As most of the casinos are featured in the big hotels (resorts) then the other facilities that these destinations provide are within easy access to the gaming areas, these include the buffets, bars, theatres and shops, so having that pre dinner flutter is easy as there will be games on your chosen restaurants doorstep. Over $6 billion dollars is gambled in Las Vegas casinos each year with more than 30 million visitors coming here annually making this the gambling capital of the world. With all that Las Vegas casinos have to offer they also attract the serious gamer and some of the worlds top tournaments are held here where the true professionals of the different games compete against each other for the big money.

Nevada state law requires that no person under the age of 21 is permitted into the gaming areas of each casino and this law is enforced however all the big resorts have other options to keep the children entertained including video game areas, playgrounds, pool complexes and of course the increasingly popular nanny service.

The tables offer perhaps the most excitement and atmosphere of gaming especially when several people gather to enjoy a game. Minimum bets vary from casino to casino and the larger resorts generally have higher minimum bets that the smaller casinos that are dotted along Las Vegas strip. Freemont street casinos like the golden nugget also generally offer lower minimum bets and are also worth visiting as they have a more old time Las Vegas feel than the larger newer resorts located on the strip itself, spending and evening here also gives you the chance to enjoy the fantastic Freemont street experience where the light and laser show beams overhead. The buffets and drinks are generally cheaper here to and the payouts considered better.

In most casinos drinks are free which is another bonus to gaming here, as long as you have placed a bet on a table or machine (usually minimum of $5 - $10 but can vary) then a waitress or barman will continue to serve you complimentary drinks, some even bring snacks around to.

For those novice gamblers who want to try something new then most of the casinos also offer free classes on selected table games, these are advertised well with the times and areas that they take place or a member of staff will always be pleased to offer advice if needed.

Table games on offer in Las Vegas include blackjack, craps, poker (various options) and of course the roulette wheel, as previously stated minimum bets apply pretty much everywhere although the smaller and older casinos tend to have lower minimums so if you are new to the tables these may be the best options. Minimums are usually $5 - $20 but can go as high as $200 - $500 for the more affluent visitor. Most Las Vegas casinos also have high roller rooms which are separate from the main gaming area and the big money is placed, people have to meet selected criteria to game in these areas and generally they are plusher rooms with higher limits and fewer crowds.

The amount of slot machines on offer is incredible (over 170,000 within the city) with literally hundreds of different games to play, most take coins or cards and give a fun option and often high payout (it is said that the machines nearer the doors pay better as this brings the people in when they see regular winners as they pass). Video poker is another favoured gambling option and these can be found everywhere, a favourite pass time by many is sitting at a bar enjoying a complimentary cocktail or two while playing the games these machines provide.
